Save Harness racing in Illinois

Take Action Now

An Urgent Call To Action from the Illinois Harness Horseman’s Association

Dear IHHA Members & Friends,

We are at a critical juncture in our efforts to secure the future of harness racing in Illinois. Senate Bill 1473 (SB 1473), which includes setting a “shot clock” deadline at the end of this year for Hawthorne Race Course, is now moving through the House. This crucial legislation would:

  • End six and a half years of delays from Hawthorne, which have already cost Illinois more than $100 million in lost revenue.
  • Open the door for private investment to build a new racino in Decatur.
  • Create 300 permanent jobs without any cost to Illinois taxpayers.
  • Provide substantial benefits to Illinois agriculture, including increased breeding and racing opportunities.

We urgently need your help: Please contact your state representative TODAY and ask them to support SB 1473.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Email your representative using the form on this page.
  2. Call your representative’s office using the provided talking points script.

Let’s continue working together to ensure the strength and vitality of harness racing in Illinois.

Thank you for your prompt action and unwavering support.

Sincerely,
Jeff Davis
President, Illinois Harness Horsemen’s Association
